St George in East Index

The George, New road  in the 1851 census and 1856 and the 1852 and 1864 license transfers. This address appears to originally have been 8 New Road in 1860 and earlier. In the 1860 directory it is on the north side.

If this follows a similarity with the Britannia, then this was the George, in Back lane in 1772. In 1810 Lockies description of London, it is "Back Lane, St Georges in the East, the E. continuation of the New road and Cable street also N. parallel to Ratcliffe Highway, extending to King Davids lane and Sun Tavern fields."
